According to Ayurveda, the human body is made up of space, air, fire, water and earth, which are present in the cosmos and they work as three energies known as the 'Tridosha'; Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Although they regulate thousands of separate functions in the mind/body system, they have three basic functions. The lifestyle and eating habits of an individual should harmonize the three Doshas balance, but when an imbalance occurs, it creates mental and physical disturbance in the human body.
Knowing your personal mind-body-constitution is crucial to make Ayurveda work for you since its effectiveness is based on treating people individually; instead of as a series of symptoms like western doctors will. You see, every person is influenced by all three Doshas, but they manifest differently in every one of us.
As a basic overview, the three Doshas exert control as below:
1. Vata (air + ether/space) - Movement Vata means "That which moves things." Vata is space and air. It is this dosha that moves kapha and pitta. It governs movement such things as breathing, heart pulsations and all expansion and contraction of the body from cells to joints. It is thought of as the powerful dosha as it is the life force and governs subtle energies and all biological movement.

2. Pitta (fire + water) - Metabolism Pitta means "That which digests things." The elements that govern pitta are fire and water. Think of pitta as the body's fire or metabolism. Would you like to learn more about how Ayurveda can work for you?
This Ayurveda test will give you a hint about your “Prakriti” (also called Prakruti in many places) — your birth constitution that doesn’t change throughout your life. It is made up from your parents disposition, which determines your main physical characteristics, mentality and emotional behaviour. Knowing your ayurvedic type will help you figuring out a diet, skin care products and lifestyle that are perfect for your individual needs and how to find the remedies that work for you. It will also help you understanding yourself better; why you are the way you are, act the way you act and your physical traits.
However, online tests can never give you perfectly accurate results, so once you know your Doshas keep observing yourself to deepen your knowledge about your Prakriti.
